You’re all in for a real treat with this episode as Jason and James have some amazing news – TGN will be at Wind Up Chicago in July! – and an outstanding chat with Hugh Francis Anderson. The TGN boys got to know Hugh when he was covering cars and watches but he later made a push into writing and photojournalism specializing in adventure and the environment.
Spot on about diving, sailing, and climbing inducing flow state. Motorcycling is like this, too. To be fully present, every thought poured into executing your training and preparation, in a very real sense on the edge of serious harm, if not death, yet in full control of the situation... It’s not adrenaline. I don’t think it’s *about* the control exactly, either. To me, it’s the joy of freedom. Freedom-from, yes, but more importantly, raw freedom of the individual. And when it’s achieved through the pursuit of excellence and discipline, well, I think there’s nothing sweeter.
One story I remember hearing about "E.T" is that some studio rejected it in favor of "Starman" thinking one alien film was enough. Terrible commercial decision, but "Starman", starring Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen, is a wonderful movie and completely underrated.
I just got the new Zodiac 53 Skin ZO9213 and I love it! The only bummer is that the beautiful stock bracelet doesn’t adjust small enough for my wrist. I got a Forstner Rivet bracelet to substitute and it’s alright but I wish the stock was usable for me. Really like what Zodiac has been doing lately with color and respecting their design heritage while also evolving it. Zodiac seems to generally fly under the radar on the forums and such so you can find some really awesome deals on them.

Did anyone catch the adventure quote Hugh mentioned?
Great episode. I booked my tickets for Windup over the weekend.
I'd be interested in a TGN meet up one of the evenings.
What an incredible episode. Great interview. Hugh sounds like a really interesting guy.
Also, congrats on the Wind Up appearance! I'm sure it will be a blast.
Hey! Re: that closing quote from Cousteau: Wasn’t that the quote they used in Rushmore? Love that movie!
Looks like I'll be going to Chicago in July! I owe Chase with Oak and Oscar a visit as well. Looking forward to finally meeting in person.

Very much looking forward to WindUp! I debating going but now I definitely am knowing TGN will be there. Can't wait!
