This week we have an extra special and action-packed episode with our fav picks from (and around) Geneva Watch Days and a delightful interview with the multi-talented Megan Hine.
Glad you liked the Seek app, Jason. I've grown up in a family that usually always knows what kind of bird or plant they're looking at, so I have an innate urge to ID just about every new organism I come across. The image recognition behind this thing is truly uncanny sometimes. Thanks for the shout-out!
In regards to the soon to be released watch that James mentioned early on, my guess is that VC finally came out with a production version of the Cory Richards prototype… that would be pretty cool… and equally well beyond my current means haha.
Looks like you were spot on! I was trying to think of what it could be but you beat me to it. Was just hoping it also came with a full titanium bracelet option similar to the prototype. Looking forward to hearing James and Jason's impressions.
That's a great shout. Titanium Overseas Dual Time with full titanium bracelet and strap options. Would be real curious to see the pricing on that if you are correct. The steel is currently $27,100.
Great guest. I really enjoy some of those adventure shows, interesting to hear a little behind the scenes. Need to push myself to continue to get outdoors more often.
I love this show and have enjoyed it since episode one but if they went to a subscription model I would not be a buyer for a couple of reasons.
1. I have way too many subscriptions and don't need another. This whole rental economy is bringing me down.
2. I have tried in the past to subscribe to pay to read/listen newsletters/podcasts. Before having to pay I loved them for what they were; great sources of information, entertainment and education. When I had to start paying I feel like I started to hold them to a higher standard and as the material didn't drastically improve or if they had a bad show/newsletter I got frustrated and have ended the subscriptions.
With that being said I would gladly pay for a supporter pack like the guys have done previously. As they have made many great product recommendations in the past I am sure another supporter pack would be killer.
What I'd like to see is a purely optional subscription that doesn't lock up any content. (I think of this as the Dan Carlin model). I pay to support a bunch of podcasts and newsletters, but there's only one that I support specifically for the locked up content. For the most part what I want to do is support things that I like to see exist freely.
I downloaded Seek to show my wife and try it out. We were at breakfast so I grabbed the closest thing which was a head of garlic. I held it in my hand and took some pictures, and seek said it was a mollusk! I definitely see why my hand + a head of garlic was confusing, and this is not to indict Seek at all, but a funny first experience. I will try it out in the wild before drawing any conclusions...
As soon as I saw that full Titanium and Grey Petite Tap ROO my first thought was fantasy "TGN watch". Agree its such a cool piece and love the return to the original 90s design and 42mm size. Although, I've had a chance to wear the original ROO Diver at 42mm on the rubber and these watches still wear incredibly large.

Loved the interview guys
Elliot Brown does a Land Rover watch with a few more subtle design ques that works quite well - https://elliotbrownwatches.com/collections/holton-professional/products/land-rover-x-elliot-brown-holton-professional
Not a bad-looking watch at all! Thanks for the heads up.
definitely digging the Elliot Brown Holton NIVO, wish I could try it on my wrist to see if it's too big
I haven't listened yet, but I'm really hoping you guys can get Robert on the show at some point.
Getting ready to listen, I see a husky right from the start so I'm confident this will be a good one. :)

James mentioned it briefly in the last Hodinkee Radio podcast, but I’m also looking forward to their full rundown on the Grey Nato.
And I agree, a full titanium bracelet would be awesome, but I think they look pretty sharp on the dark gray rubber strap too.

Related to the Oris ocean conservation stuff, Christopher Ward has some interesting models doing something similar.
Interesting to hear Jason's change of heart on the Pelagos over 152 episodes... mind you the original was pretty stark

would love the option to support the show through the substack, such great content and delivery, definitely worth it
Agree strongly. Would love to have the option to support the show!

some sort of combo deal with swimpruf would be ideal

For a "Land Rover" watch, I might go with the Weiss...

That is a great example, actually!
Great show again. I think its time you both joined me and got that Pelagos that you know you want.
