As others have said; I appreciate the free podcast, but would personally be happy to sign up for a monthly Patreon or similar support to keep it going.
Very excited for this next TGN chapter gents, congrats, I think this platform will work well, and the interaction with the TGN community will be an added benefit. I would also echo the comments on being willing to add support through subscription, merch, sponsored purchases and the like. I have to say, the move away from Hodinkee seems to have come at a good time, as they appear to be jumping the shark right now. James, congrats on the EXP II article, I just think it deserved a better showcase than Volume 8, which I’m in absolute bemusement about. Perhaps we can get a nice simple no-nonsense (design-wise) version on another medium? ! This is in no way a knock to you - I’m just glad to be able to experience your work (both of you) away from what Hodinkee is becoming... great work guys, onwards and upwards!
Have just started this latest episode. Great to have a medium to interact with the Grey Nato community. Since its my first post here, just wanted to say how much I love the show, listen to it religiously. Being a Pelagos owner here in Australia, I love how often you sneek in Pelagos references in the shows. Keep them coming!
I have loved the podcast from the very first one and think this change is great. I have an idea for an episode and wanted to put it down on "paper" before I forget.
If you had to sell every single watch you own and replace the collection with 1 watch equal to the total cost of the collection what would you get? This to me is interesting as it boils this consumerist hobby down to one of minimalism. I recently did this for the most part and couldn't be happier.
Congratulations on the changes to the podcast and the new substack setup. While the pod is always very good, the tone of the last few episodes has been markedly positive and upbeat. I'm looking forward to the new weekly cadence.
Loved this episode so much. You guys seemed really into it, relaxed and enjoying yourselves and that energy comes through so much. Was cool to hear Jason's thoughts on the new quartz divers he's been trying out as I've been hankering after a new quartz dive watch myself recently. Keep up the good work fellas.
Excited for this next era of TGN and will happily support the show on substack if that becomes available. Love Jason's substack and if James's work-life balance allows, will subscribe to his in the future.
Stoked about this! TGN was my fave part of HODINKEE, but prefer interfacing with the watch community without the rest of that site. Congrats and love your content guys.
Best wristwatch/gear/adventuring podcast out there by far. I try to listen to others, but I just end up re-listening to the entire catalog of TGN episodes instead. Love this new notes/comments section and the energy on this episode was great.
Really enjoying the new notes area on sub-stack and I think it is a great move. Nice to be able to scroll through, comment, and interact. Every time I listen I miss my old 1993 Land Rover Defender 110 that I bought while working as a safari guide in South Africa. Took it all over the country and got into some pretty fun adventures. Can you post pics in the comments? Thanks again for the great content.
That is a beauty. When I saw the photo, I immediately though Aussie, where that style of "Roo Bar" is popular. But makes sense in SA too. These trucks get under your skin!
They sure do! I actually traded an old Discovery for it and it came bare, just the bull bar and the winch. I took the next 18 months and slowly kitted it out with extra jerry cans, roof tent, running lights, branch deflectors etc. Came in handy on the game reserve and was my go-to photographic safari vehicle!
Another great episode, J&J! I am looking forward to the weekly format and Substack. The community element is very appealing. Keep up the excellent work : )
I’m on board with a paid sub and other ways to support the show.
I'm only a few minutes in, but yes, enabling paid subs on substack to support you guys would be very welcome
Thanks so much for letting us know!

Thank you!
This is great, congrats fellas! Love the podcast and absolutely welcome the weekly format.
Paid subs, affiliate links and/or branded and collab merch (stickers, patches, t-shirts, hats, grey natos, pens, gear pouches) are all welcome, happy to support.
Super, thanks for the feedback, some of what you listed is in the works.

Couldn’t be more thrilled to see this refreshed logo, substack, and weekly episodes trifecta!
As for paid subscriptions, count me in at the “Shut Up and Take My Money” tier.

Thanks so much for the love, we're glad to hear Substack will work!
Would love to purchase some swag with that great-looking new log on it (e.g., t-shirts, stickers, patches, etc.)!
Loving the transition to Substack and would happy to pay as well to support. I really enjoyed the episode and can sense more enthusiasm from you guys.
More than happy for a paid sub stack to support TGN, great new logo too guys keep up the good work
Thanks so much for subscribing and for the feedback on the logo and substack support, much appreciated!

I don't think that the platform does images, but perhaps links?
Great idea! Just wanted to share it as I love talking Land Rovers! https://imgur.com/a/wKvkVi0
Paging Heaton - that rig is sweeeeet. Love the wrap-around bull bar.
