Just a quick thanks from the Tenba team for the shoutout about the DNA Messenger Bag. Love the podcast.

These episodes are the worst...on the waiting list for a Hassler after putting it off for months, I regret waiting so long. And just got another CNS package in the mail.

Great episode! I know you had said in past episodes that if enough people asked for a music episode that you would consider it. Please do a top 3 or top 5 album or artist picks!!!

Anyone care to share more about the guy harassing small businesses regarding the word NATO? I have seen this impact Toxic and CNS. Will this also impact TGN?

Can anyone compare the Tenba DNA bags vs Crumpler Proper Roady bags, in terms of materials/quality to price?

Cheers,

Felix.

Quick question somewhat related to the DaFin recommendation. What mask and snorkel would anyone recommend? Figure getting used about 2 or 3 times a year, probably about 10 days/year total. In the past I've had reasonable luck with rentals, but find that comfort after 30+ min isn't great.

Thanks all.

Anything from Cressi. I have a Cressi F1 mask and Supernova Dry snorkel. Could recommend both.

Great episode. The CNS mention will cost me some (little) money... Just added another 19mm watch to the mix, need to get some straps to dress it down a bit.

Some thoughts on accuracy. The timing machine is a good tool to compare watches on the bench, measure adjustments that are made, and find obvious problems. But what the watch does is the field is what I believe really matters. No way to know without wearing it and measuring it over time. I have two Seiko 6R35's that both run within +/- 6 sec per day in use, which is excellent... My most accurate mechanical is a Bill Yao tuned NE15C (nee 6R15), which had a 7 day stretch this year of running basically +/- 0 sec. I think accuracy matters. And I also agree with the statements in this episode about the person(s) doing the final QC and tuning really makes a difference, probably the most difference. If anyone has a relatively modern movement that isn't running as tight as they'd like, get it tuned.

Thanks again for another good episode.

Hi James - I hear you re: the full polished case on the CWC. They do offer a similar model with a full brushed matte case which I prefer much more https://www.cwcwatch.com/collections/divers-watches/products/cwc-royal-all-matte-case-navy-divers-watch-quartz-mk-1

I picked up a pair of DaFin fins about a year ago for a trip to the USVI where I was planning on doing some snorkeling, and have since packed them along for trips to Grenada and Kauai. They’re great, and very convenient to travel with.

Clearly the takeaway from the timegrapher experiment is that your SSK needs a tourbillon!

I live in London and I have been meaning to go to Silvermans and look at these CWC watches for a long time. Fairly sure some of the guys at my rifle club have some quartz CWC pieces - I quite like the idea of having a quartz one. Will get over there eventually.

How would you compare the bezel action to the Doxa 600T? I quite like that bezel action!

I recently had my LHD bezel replaced - Rolex said the teeth were worn which is why it would not line up perfectly - I really feel like when I got the new bezel the action was CONSIDERABLY better than on my original one. Perhaps there was a fault with the original one. Oh well. Action is indeed fantastic on the Pelagos as well.

I like the action on the Doxa for its tooly brutalness - feels good and built for purpose..

James, have you checked out Wheels of Bloor? It’s a great bike shop near high park and a lot of the guys there are watch guys. I’ve got no affiliation other than being an occasional customer.

They tuned up my Diamante, my wife and I bought our helmets there. Great shop, definitely some watch nerds on staff.

The CWC bezel is so good. It reminds of Grand Seiko quartz, every notch/tick is so precise and slams with accuracy. Underrated watch.

Good shout out to CNS (cheapest Nato Straps). Horrid that a copywrite troll is going after that site. Love the ribbed nato (especially the orange on vacation where its playful and doesn't mind getting wet). Set of CNS's on the way to me as we speak.

OH, and good customer service. DHL lost a decent sized delivery during the Pandemic Christmas, and they resent me everything once it was clear than nothing was coming from DHL.

Good call on CNS - I particularly like their newest “premium” strap, which are also $10 https://cnswatchbands.com/collections/premium-straps.

+1

I would also recommend their cotton nato straps. Gives a great vintage look and they are super comfortable! Use it on my Railmaster all the time. Probably not for aquatic activities though... :)

When my son made Eagle scout and graduated high school i got him one of the Orange Titanium Diver One, mainly as a reference to the scuba merit badge he had earned. He doesn't wear it often and it sits on the side-board way to much. Its just too good not to be worn so this week is have it on the Heaton bund and it looks awesome. Come to think about it the strap is pretty mush the same $ as the strap. the watch is seriously good value.

I just picked up a project 300 from your friend Bill Yao and mkII watches. It also has a 60 click bezel. Definitely omega 300 and cwc vibes.
