After 10 months on ice, the Film Club is back and the TGN boys are welcoming their first-ever Film Club guest Tim Stacey! Tim is not only James’ brother, but he’s also a huge film and music nerd and he recently launched a new podcast called Single Serving Cinema. Joined by his co-host Taylor, the two pick a single scene from a notable movie and chat about everything from technique to performance, music, cinematography, and more. Hit the links in the notes below to subscribe and check out their full episode list.
But back to this episode – for Volume 6, Jason, Tim, and James are each bringing three great movies to the TGN Film Club library and it’s a varied lot that spans multiple genres, languages, styles, and more than your daily serving of the wonderful Tom Hardy. It’s an extra-long and extra chatty episode but we think it’s the best Film Club we’ve recorded yet.
Thanks so much for listening, we hope you love it.

Edit Note: ~35:25 James mentions that The Rewatchables recently did an episode on The Thing. The show James was thinking of is actually a recent episode of the always-excellent Blank Check Podcast, which is another A+ podcast for film commentary. You can find the link in the list above.
Wow this episode really hit home for me. Some of my fav movies in here.
Sorcerer: I only discovered this one a couple years ago and it's abs fantastic. I read that McQueen was considered for the role and that's about the only thing that could have made it better. But Scheider was fantastic.
The Terror: Harris was great. I stumbled onto the series by accident because it was on after something else.
The Thing: An all-time fav. Have seen it soooo many times and still go back to it. I'd also recommend the 2011 version which is kind of a prequel.
The Taking of Pelham 123 (1974): Another movie I can't believe I waited so long to see. Absolutely great and so many great actors in it, including Frank Costanza.
Dunkirk: Who doesn't love Tom Hardy?!
Hell or High Water (2016): My son turned me on to this one. Not bad at all.
The Revenant: Who doesn't love Tom Hardy?!?! :)
Drive to Survive: I had low expectations but it's really well done.
Great episode! Since you guys mentioned Bill Friedkin, I have to recommend his conversation with Marc Maron. Maron has had hundreds of fascinating conversations via his podcast, but the Friendkin interview is my absolute favorite.
