Great episode for those of us with a proclivity for cooler climes or winter sports! My most loved winter gear included a pair of Le Chameau Vierzonord neoprene-lined Welles. They sound like an elevated version of your Bogs boots. I wore them every day for nine months on the ice in Antarctica and never cold cold feet. They are not cheap but they are wonderfully comfortable and have worn like iron thus far! Keep it up gents!

Will the slack messages disappear after 3 months? It's usually like that on the free plan.

The TGN Slack if on the free plan, so it's limitations would apply, yes.

Another great episode. A good winter documentary I’ve just caught is This Mountain Life about a 6 month ski trek up the coastal mountain range in BC. It really makes you appreciate a warm fire and hot food. It’s on Prime: https://watch.amazon.co.uk/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.faba5dc8-dbac-0d81-4a51-240644ee8ec1&territory=GB&ref_=share_ios_movie&r=web

Great episode as always! Gearing up for winter here in Norway, so ordered a pair of Eddie Bauer lined pants on your recommendation, looking forward for testing those.

I have always been intrigued with Jason's curry cookings on IG after your trip to Sri Lanka this summer, and when it came back for perfect winter food I thought it made a lot of sense. Would love it if you shared some recipes or pointed me in the direction of some? Preferably some easy everyday meals to feed the family :-)

I’m sure someone has already said this, but Rogue Heroes is available in the US on Epix.

Does anyone have experience with Amazon Basics version of the Nano Puff? I have two on order for "Try before you buy". I'd be happy to let you know how it performs if anyone is interested.

James mentioned having to relocate in his house to avoid a buzz and this just so happens to be the only episode I’ve ever heard a buzz in.

Learned a few things walking 60 NM to the South Pole, and thought I’d share: GLOVES: Hestra makes a wind stopper light glove. When paired with a light wool liner glove they were perfect walking in -20 F. Leather choppers are great over then when you stop. BASE LAYER: Brynje makes an incredibly light base layer that’s weirdly warm. They look like fishing net but are perfect as an active base layer. Always buy wool base layers, synthetic start to smell after a while. HOOD: a fur or synthetic ruff around the hood makes a world of difference, it disrupts cold airflow and keeps your face much warmer.

Agreed about the hood. They key is not just a hood but a hood that extends far forward from the face.....like a short tunnel.

A friend worked for two years in Nunavut (basically the end of the world) and the village elders took his Northface jacket and sewed a long hood extension of wolf hair. He swears by it.

If you’re going to speak to products that haven’t already been mentioned in previous episodes, then yes, put me down as a vote for a 2022 gift guide.

Really good episode here, love the focus on winter as it’ll help get through these cold months!

Keep up the great work. James, you are WAY to hard on yourself w/regards to audio quality!! Go easy on yourself...the buzzing doesn’t bother too many of us and if you switching recording locations results in sub-par content because you’re not comfortable, that’d be no-bueno.

Another great episode guys. I'll echo the other comments and say I'd love a TGN gift guide.

On a side note given the current economic climate it would be great to have a TGN episode about finances and budgeting. Is their anything you're cutting down on? (exciting stuff I know). How do you guys budget for big purchases (gear, experiences etc) and if you have any tips to make your gear last longer. Any tips for gear that negates the purchase of other items would also be helpful. Thanks again.

A wonderful episode as always. When it comes to fall/winter clothing I pretty much utilize Eddie Bauer, LL Bean, and Duluth Trading Co depending on the item. The LL Bean commando sweater is a favorite of mine. All top notch for the price. I always enjoy these types of episodes.

Do NOT sleep on the Decathalon Forclaz Trek 100 23°F Real Down Packable Puffer Backpacking Jacket (Hoodie). At $90, this thing rivals the $325 Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer. It's only +/- 10 ounces and has 850 powerfill RDS certified down. I find it superior to my Patagonia Down Sweater and a warmer compliment to my Patagonia Nanopuff.

Thanks so much for the suggestion! That’s an amazing price. Cheers

Absolutely yes to the Holiday gift guide! Great show, and always looking for tips to make winter more pleasant. Definitely interested to see what budget picks you might have for people this year. My family is always tricky to buy gifts for. Thanks!

Yes to the TGN Gift Guide! While there has been a lot of product talk this year, it wouldn't be a bad idea to recap some good gift giving ideas.

As someone who is soon moving to northern Florida, this episode made me long for some real snow and not the middling "winters" ahead. I suppose my winter will be filled with more kayaking and less snowshoeing...
