Bumping an oldie here but just ordered the Standard H Targa jacket. Been wanting a good midnight jacket for some time.

I'm considering subscribing, been listening since the beginning. What I'm most curious about is the Slack group. How active is it? How is the signal to noise ratio? I miss the old days of TimeZone when there were great technical discussions. Now it seems like it's 90% press releases and wrist shot Wednesdays. How much do you enjoy the Slack here? Thanks in advance!

Slack will be new this year - from November I believe. For the past year since the supporter plan began, comments have been like this by episode. It will be interesting to see the level of engagement and conversation once slack is up and running from us supporters, but I expect it to be a really positive addition to the benefits already in place through the plan.

I was lucky enough to visit the Omega/Swatch museum in Biel/Bienne last week and I highly recommend it. Interesting for the whole family including my young daughter with the interactive exhibits and story telling which brings the watches to life. The staff were incredibly friendly too. I would love to have a tour inside the manufacturing one day but I guess that has to be limited to a few to allow the company to operate effectively and with the dust controls etc in place. Wouldn’t it be cool though if you could buy a watch from a boutique and have the option to pick it up from Biel with a tour thrown in. I also visited the Patek museum in Geneva which is different with much more of a focus on the watches themselves (both Patek and high quality historic examples the museum has acquired) but was also exceptional and somewhere a watch fan could spend hours.

Very nice, I'd love to get to the Omega museum one day.

How will renewals at the $100 per year level work? I can’t remember if it was setup as a one time thing last year or an automatic renewal. I could have missed it but don’t think it was mentioned.

Hey Brian, the renewal should be automatic, which is why we wanted to get the perks sorted out in advance (so people would have a chance to consider the $100 before Substack does the payment).

I do the monthly and it renews and sends an email notification. I’m betting the annual is the same.

For my other substack subscriptions, it just happened and I got a notification afterwards - I assume it will be the same unless you intentionally cancel your subscription

Love the slack idea, boy I can already see some of those rabbit holes that will be created, hint to you set up a moderator so it doesn't eat up your day.

You mean you don’t want me to create a channel for every reference number? 😂

I feel a little foolish not knowing what Slack is or what it's used for (even though James assumes we all do).

If you’re old enough... it’s basically a modern, corporatised version of IRC

It’s similar to a forum type of thing but really geared toward collaboration, I think. We have it at work but I never use it. One of things that my company instituted because it’s what all the cool kids use but we’re an old aerospace company...

I can see where it will be a good way for the TGN crowd to interact and discuss different topics like on WatchUSeek (and others).

I grew up watching the Leyland Brothers - hadn’t thought about them in a long time. From memory it’s pronounced lay-land rather than lee-land. Loved that show.

In a similar vein, check out Bush Tucker Man. It looks like the ABC has just put up all of the full seasons on YouTube.

That Speedmaster is a killer find! Congrats, Jason! I've tried a few estate sales with no luck but I always keep an eye out for promising lots.

As an avid film photographer for over 25 years now, it's nice to a new film camera released in 2022. I've shot with many Leica film cameras over the year including the M2, M3, M6, M-A and MP. I've had my well loved MP (with a 0.58 finder, a godsent for those of us with glasses) for about 10 years now and I can't image ever selling it. I do find this M6 rather odd/interesting. From what I can tell, it appears to be a reskinned MP with different film advance lever and rewind mechanism. James, do you have any insight into this? For me, the clean lines and the lack of branding would make the MP or M-A a more appealing choice for me but I can see why people are excited/enthusiastic about this new model.

Nearly spit my coffee all over my windshield when Jason said “....drinking from a fire hose of watch stuff.” Made me laugh. Fun episode. Enjoyed it.
