If you enjoyed the book "The Eye of the Needle" then please check out the movie. Donald Sutherland and Kate Nelligan are wonderful in the lead roles.

Thanks James and Jason - another very enjoyable episode and I’m thrilled that the quote you chose was from Elbert Hubbard, founder of the Roycroft Campus in East Aurora NY - my hometown- Think you would both enjoy a visit to the campus and our quaint little village - believe it would be much closer for James as we’re just a 30 minute drive southeast of Buffalo - but open invitation to you both for pints and chicken wings on me. Here’s a short photo essay on the Roycroft but much more online if you Google Roycroft Campus or East Aurora NY. Cheers!

Thank you for another great episode James and Jason! I ordered Kims book after listening to the interview. Also I just received my containment kerchief and they look great! Thanks again Alexander.

That was a really good interview w/ Kim Sherwood- I'm looking forward to buying her books and diving in.

This was a great interview. I enjoyed the insider discussion that Jason and Kim had on constructing novels and drawing inspiration for character elements. I also enjoyed the connections back to the Ian Fleming Estate as well. Turns out I listened to the podcast while I was building my LEGO Speed Champions 007 Aston Martin DB5 while wearing my Omega Planet Ocean (as worn in Quantum of Solace). Hmmm... Too much Bond? or not enough?

Great episode. These "larger universe" stories can be very entertaining. I'm a big fan of the Bourne movie with Jeremy Renner in the lead because I appreciate how creatively they were able to tell a story that weaved in and out of the Jason Bourne timeline without need to have JB directly in the story.

Loved the interview Jason!

My ears perked up when you discussed The Dirtbag Diaries. I’ve been a longtime listener of that podcast, and there are many great episodes. The one that stands out to me, and that I often suggest as an introduction for new listeners, is from back in 2012 called “The Mobil”. It’s presented by Brendan Leonard (a great writer in his own right) and is fantastically funny. If you haven’t heard it, enjoy!

Anytime you close with a quote from the sage of my home town, you make me smile.

Another terrific episode, gents! I immediately put my name on the pre-order list.

Welcome back!

Terrific interview! Listened while I was driving and ordered the book the second I made it home.

Glad you had a great trip to North Carolina, Jason. I'm headed to Asheville for a concert in a month or so, hoping to resolve my grudge with the state after having spent way too long at Fort Bragg.

Loving the episode so far. Great interview. I am committed to finish reading all of the Fleming Bond books before I move over to Bond-adjacent stuff.

Really excited to hear that James has something planned for the SSK-003. I got my 001 about a week ago and love it.

Great interview, Jason. I pulled out my copy of From Russia with Love, and the description of the rich man's belongings includes "a bulky gold wristwatch on a well-used brown crocodile strap. It was a Girard-Perregaux model designed for people who like gadgets, and it had a sweep second-hand and two little windows in the face to tell the day of the month, and the month, and the phase of the moon"

Does anyone know why watches were frequently referred to as having sweep seconds hands so often? Didn't all watches have sweep seconds hands, so why was it worth noting?

Lots of watches in the 1950s and earlier had small seconds instead of center sweep, since so many early wristwatch movements were based on pocketwatch calibers. That’s my guess anyway.

That was really a great interview, Jason. I'm really intrigued to read Kim's book. I especially enjoyed the bit about how she got into James Bond at age 12 with a used book. I was surprised that you didn't start reading thrillers until after university! It seems a genre you would have enjoyed as soon as you could read! Better late than never right?

James, I've always wanted to go to Newfoundland and you bumped it higher up the list of places to get to soon! Thanks for the tips on that!
