James, depending on how grandiose of a photo project you're looking for, do something like a project 365, 52, or 12 on IG. I did a 366 back in 2016-17 (didn't start on Jan 1) and found it was great to get me to look at everything with a different eye. Always looking for the picture that tells a story or will bring joy.
Regarding the Peloton, if you already have a bike that fits you, perhaps look into a good indoor trainer. Lots of them have power measurements now and either Garmin or Wahoo can get any bike connected for cadence (or even power with Garmin). Use Zwift to gamify the workout. When I used to ride, a lot, I would look at indoor workouts like putting money into the bank, that I could withdraw later. I feel the same now about running, outdoors, on the road. It's not the most enjoyable, but it's putting money into the bank that I can withdraw later, doing stuff I enjoy...
Regarding the Depth Charge audiobook, I think you could do it yourself. You have a good voice and it would be cool for Gishani to read the Sri Lankan characters. And I think Jason should voice Malcolm Rausing, and no, I’m not kidding. Another great episode!
I’d recommend looking at a Keiser M3i indoor bike. Super quiet. You can ride it and watch tv at a normal volume. Virtually maintenance free and it will last a lifetime. Plus you can use it with any tablet and biking app of your choice including peloton. The peloton app is cheaper for non peloton users but you don’t get some of the performance metrics in the app. I think it’s worth it for the savings and versatility. I like the zwift app and haven’t been a fan of instructor led workouts.
James, you happen to live near the best (and probably safest) place for winter running in Toronto - the Martin Goodman Trail. The city keeps it clear throughout the winter, so assuming you can get down the hill to the lake, you're good.
Sure, it's not as pretty as Vancouver (my hometown), but the frozen lake can be really interesting, and there are often neat ice formations if you run up the trail beside the Humber river.
I recommend running from home to the lake, a couple of km east or west, back up on Ellis (a favourite for hill repeats), and finish at your favourite coffee place.
Another strong recommendation for the Headspace app. It’s become an important part of starting my day. Almost three years into it and can’t imagine life without their calming coaches’ influence.
And, Jason, read the book yourself. You ARE Depth Charge.
Re. Depth Charge narration. Although Jason reading it would obviously be the favourite option of his fans and I should think most TGN listeners, those fans will most probably downland the audio book anyway. If he (you 😁) want to reach the biggest audience possible then I think a professional would equate to more downloads and reaching a wider and more diverse audience. Just my two pennies worh. I'll be downloading it either way. 😁 ✌🏽
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND a trip to Dominica. Of all the islands in the West Indies, this is probably the most wild, undeveloped and unique. I lived there for about a year and a half in '08-'09 and used to describe the diving there like hiking in the Alaskan wilderness as compared to diving in some of the other western hemisphere hotspots is to hiking in Yellowstone NP. The point is that nobody is around and the reefs are pristine. The adventures topside are every bit as amazing, maybe better? It's not for the luxury traveler, not even a stop light on the island when I lived there. Trust me, look up Dominica.

Obviously I'm biased, but it's a beautiful, minimally developed island. I recommend it to anyone interested in going off the usual trail. And you will see old dusty Land Rovers and can rent a Hilux RHD.
I implore Jason to narrate his own audiobook. Jason's voice is lovely honestly. It has that deep resonate, relaxing, radio quality to it. I listen to tons of audiobooks and I don't think using accents really adds much to the book. I think as the author you know where to slow down, where to emphasize better than everyone else. I will buy your audiobook no matter who narrates it, but as a huge fan of TGN and the Jason/James (J&J) brand, I would much much much rather hear Jason's voice than some random man/woman. And maybe James can do the English accents for you, lol. :) ~Matt
What an episode! Something that I'm working on this year is also my mental hygiene. I use running to supplement this and would like to recommend the Nike Running Club app, there are some guided runs in there that are co-produced by Headspace. But I do think that any of the guided runs are motivating and fun.
Another strong recommendation for a peloton. I got one in 2017 and my wife and I both use it regularly, especially in the winter. The instructors are good and varied in their styles (someone for everyone). Easy to set up. Fun to compare metrics. Definitely would recommend using with a HR monitor (Scosche is good).
Like Jason, I also recently got back into running. I live in Alaska and needed new studded running shoes and had the Snow Bugs for a week - I was extremely disappointed. They didn't offer much cushion and were quite stiff. I ended up getting terrible blisters. I exchanged them for Salomon Spike-Cross 5s and couldn't be happier.
Highly recommend the Peloton. I’ve had it for about four years, started out just using it to get back into shape but then the competitive juices came through and I started trying to climb the leaderboard. I also use Zwift with a road bike on a trainer but the Peloton is a different beast completely. Peloton is as efficient a workout as you can get. You have a “personal” trainer telling you exactly what to do and if you do it, you sweat… a bunch. There are a ton of different instructors and different styles of classes and eventually you’ll find what best suits you. I’m over a thousands rides in on mine and happy to give it the props it deserves. Happy to answer questions you might have.
I am also torn on whether Jason should read his own book or not. I have enjoyed listening to free audio book website Librivox. "The Hound of The Baskervilles" was read to me by a lady with a Southern accent which was a little jarring at first but once I got over that and started to get absorbed into the story it didn't bother me at all. On the other hand, another book, and quite possibly my favorite book is "Kim" by Kipling, and on that website it is read by someone with a mild English accent, and he does an amazing job with all the voices, from the Tibetan monk, to the Afghani horse trader, the Indians, the English officers, and the Irish soldiers, and it is fantastic. Such a good book! I'm sure that's not helpful at all, but I guess either way it would be wonderful!
As far as fitness a year ago November I started TRX, doing 10 minutes every morning when I wake up, and it's my goal to keep that up every morning. So far it's working out for me!
With regard to voice recording, check out Mike Delgado on YouTube. His channel is called Booth Junkie. He has an amazing voice and is always helpful in the field of voice recording and acting.

Keep up the good work guys!
I've been eyeing the CWC pocket watch for a while. Just for something different. Might have to make it happen this year.

Great episode of some good ol' chatting!

Classic ep! You guys have had some great guests on as of late but my favorite episodes are just you two chatting away.
Also.. put me down for some pre-orders... one copy of James' future photo book, as well as an autographed copy of "Depth Charge 2: No Time to Deco"!
