The Grey NATO - 157 - Military Watches, Practical Fitness, and How to Be More Like Bond With Sean Lerwill
For Episode 157, please welcome the wonderful Sean Lerwill to the show. He’s an ex-Royal Marine Commando Officer, a fitness expert, a James Bond fan, and a military watch enthusiast, and he was kind enough to chat with Jason and James about the start of his interest in watches, his thoughts on practical everyday fitness, plant-based diets, and even how to be more like James Bond in your day-to-day life.
Before the main chat, Jason accidentally fried his Seiko clock (be mindful of what kind of power supply you use), James looks back on a year with the SPB143, and we have two very different watches showing up in the wrist check. Thanks so much for listening and a huge thanks to Sean Lerwill for coming on the show. Just press play and let us know what you think in the comments below!

“Know thyself” (attributed to everyone from Plato to Socrates and more, but was recommended by this week’s guest, Sean Lerwill).
Really loved what Sean added to this episode from a health, diet, and fitness standpoint. These are topics lightly grazed/touched in TGN’s past, but I personally would welcome plenty more insight and guests like him! Fantastic episode, guys!!
Really enjoyed this interview. I'm Jason's age and I can't work out like I did years ago. One knee not great, a shoulder that can't push heavy weights like it did 25 years ago. :)
The best shape I was ever in was for a 6-7 year span in my 30s when I was heavily in martial arts, mostly jiu-jitsu/judo. And we overwhelmingly did body weight exercises. To this day I do a ton of push-ups, chin-ups (an under-rated exercise, imho), and body weight squats. A little stationary bike, and a moderate amount of the rowing machine.
Oh, and my fav thing, lots of aggressive hiking with my dog every week. And I couldn't agree more about the need to vary your routine. Getting an active dog might be the best thing to motivate you to get outside and move.
