The Grey NATO – 363 – A Navel-Gazing Oral History Of TGN
For this rather indulgent episode, Jason and James are looking back at the untold elements of the TGN story from the past decade. From the earliest discussions to the moment they almost quit making the show, to when it was nearly sold to a larger outlet, and a whole bunch in between. From SoundCloud to Substack and Slack, if you’ve been with the boys from the start, we hope it's entertaining. If not, don’t worry, we won’t do it again for another 10 years.
Stay in the mix for a Final Notes that will have you digging a great new book out of a great new bag. Thanks so much for listening.

Great look back at a decade of TGN. The arc from almost quitting to nearly selling to a bigger outlet is wild but probably pretty common for indie media projects. What stood out most is how platforms shifted under you guys from SoundCloud to Substack. I remmeber when podcast monetization felt impossible and now its a whole ecosysem. The guest list over the years is solid proof that consistent effort builds real reach over time.
