The Grey NATO – 249 – Kristin Harila On Her Record-Breaking Push To Climb All 8000m Peaks In Just Three Months
For the last episode before a two-week summer break, we have an extra special treat that is a couple of years in the making. We are thrilled to share a chat with the incredible mountaineer Kristin Harila shortly following her record-setting project to summit all 14 8000-meter peaks – a feat she managed in 3 months, 20 hours, and 45 minutes, which is less than half of the time of the previous record.
Kristin joined us for a call shortly after arriving home in Norway and was kind enough to chat with us about the project, the difficulties of her previous attempt, watches, fav foods, the fast mountaineering importance of fish and candy, and more.
Along with a hearty congrats to Kristin for completing such an incredible task in the mountains, Jason and James would also like to say thanks for coming on the show and an additional thank you to Bremont for making this episode possible.

Guys I’m a big fan of the show, and I have to say that I’m disappointed that you are giving space to someone who embodies everything that is wrong with mountaineering. This “achievement” is meaningless and has nothing to do with the spirit of the practice than with ego . She is basically a tourist. Do better!
Great episode. You’ll have to travel quite a distanse from Minneapolis to get as far north as Vadsø, though. ;)
