You asked and we answered – so buckle up for a lot of James Bond! Back in September of last year, we asked all of the Substack crew for topic suggestions and one name came up more often than most – James Bond. So here it is, a long and rambly episode all about our favorite parts of the James Bond franchise and a more detailed review of the latest outing No Time To Die. While we make this clear in the audio (and in the notes below), this episode is full of spoilers, both about the Bond world at large and definitely about the latest film in the series. You’ve been warned (many times).
From our earliest introductions to Bond and the life of a 00, to some of our favorite films, gadgets, cars, and most certainly watches featured in the series, this is nearly two hours of Bond talk that culminates with a review of No Time To Die and a consideration as to what might be next for the famed spy-based series.
Stay in the mix for an installment of Final Notes that will have you building a vintage race car on your desk and diving for seaweed with a solid dive watch on your wrist.

Why did they have to kill Bond? Why didn't he jump off to the water? For someone who watched the movie multiple times, I think we're forgetting the fact that Bond had the Heracles virus during his brief fight with Safin. The virus is modified to kill only Madeleine and Mathilde. You might say, Bond can tragically live with not seeing or touching them. But the way the virus works is whoever Bond interacts with becomes a carrier of Heracles and the numbers will grow--it will could possibly take years of getting passed on and ultimately randomly to a person who will be in close proximity or even have physical contact to both Madeleine and Mathilde. For Bond it is the only proper send-off for the world as well as his loved ones that he die right there.
The Home Alone reference to Skyfall was hilarious. :)
The No Time To Die villain, I agree, love him but it was never clear why he was doing what he did.
I think the link to the SR-71 might be bad, I think it might be tied to your order and/or session?
Great episode, thanks!
